State Vision News Service Srinagar, Nov. 7 Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the Union Territory s government wants to send a message to Centre on the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A in August, 2019, calling the move not acceptable . Omar Abdullah s remarks came amidst ongoing ruckus in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after the UT s government moved a resolution for the restoration of Article 370. During the elections, I kept saying that we have to raise our voices with the help of the assembly. We have to send a message that whatever happened to us on August 5, 2019, is not acceptable to us, said CM Abdullah. Further, the newly inaugurated CM called the 5 year old decision one that was taken without the consultation of the politicians of the former state. He accused the BJP led Central government of not taking the permission of local leaders before going forward with the decision. It happened without our permission, will or consultation... Some people started taunting us that we forgot and we betrayed... We are not those who betray, Abdullah was quoted as saying.
Moreover, he appeared to be defending the restlessness of the Assembly, claiming that the National Conference led government of the UT knows the law. He also said that the reason the resolution was passed in the J K assembly was because his government wanted Centre to not neglect it. We are the people who know the law. We know how things are done via assembly. We wanted to raise our voice through the assembly which could not be neglected by the centre. We could have brought a resolution on the first day that they would have thrown in the trash... We wanted to force them to speak to us... We passed the resolution and told the world what we wanted and what we will achieve, Abdullah said. The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution on Wednesday urging the Centre to devise a constitutional mechanism to restore the special status of the erstwhile state. The move was met with praise from valley based political parties, while triggering protests from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party BJP , which called for the resolution s rollback. The passage of the resolution led to uproar in the House, with BJP members vocally protesting, resulting in repeated disruptions.
